Reef Rumble is a slingshot game for iPhone and iPad. This page explains what information the game handles and who handles it. The short version: you do not need an account to play, we do not ask for your name or e-mail address, and your progress is stored on your device.
What stays on your device
Your game progress (worlds cleared, heroes, coins, gems, settings, the gift codes you have used) is saved on your device. It stays there, except for the backup copy described under Online profile below, in versions of the game that have one. If you delete the game, this progress is deleted with it.
Purchases
In-app purchases are paid for through Apple, using your Apple ID. We never see your payment details. To confirm a purchase and to restore lifetime purchases on a new device, the game uses RevenueCat, a purchase service. RevenueCat receives the purchase receipt from Apple, the product bought, the time, your country and store currency, and a random identifier created for your copy of the game. It does not receive your name or e-mail address. RevenueCat's privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.
Game Center
If you are signed in to Apple's Game Center, the game reports your achievements and leaderboard scores to it, and Game Center shows them under your Game Center nickname. Game Center is run by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. You can sign out of Game Center in your device's Settings at any time; the game works the same without it.
Advertising
Versions of the game with ads show them through Google AdMob: rewarded video ads, which you choose to watch in exchange for a bonus, and a full-screen ad after a cleared world. The Ad-Free Card in the Shop removes them. When an ad is requested, Google may collect the device's advertising identifier (only if you allow tracking when your device asks), your IP address, approximate location derived from it, and information about how the ad was used, to deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud. How Google uses this information: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can refuse tracking when your device asks, or later under Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking; the game works the same either way. Versions of the game without ads send nothing to Google.
Usage statistics
Versions of the game with usage statistics send a small number of events about how the game is played to PostHog, an analytics service whose servers for this game are in the United States, so that we can see where players get stuck and what to improve. Examples: the game was opened, a run was won or lost and on which map, a hero was upgraded, a chest was opened, a purchase was made, a duel was played, a gift code was used. PostHog also keeps a profile under that identifier with where you stand in the game: worlds cleared, heroes collected, runs and duels played, how often a purchase was started and completed, and what was spent. Each event carries a random identifier created for your copy of the game, the game version, your device type, operating system, screen size, language and time zone, and how far you are in the game (worlds cleared, heroes collected). PostHog also receives your IP address when the game connects to it and uses it to work out your country; the address itself is not stored. The events do not carry your name, your Game Center nickname, anything you typed, your contacts or your precise location, and we do not use them for advertising. You can switch statistics off at any time under Settings > Statistics in the game. PostHog's privacy policy: posthog.com/privacy. Versions of the game without usage statistics send nothing to PostHog.
Playing against others
Duels against other players are Game Center matches: Apple's Game Center finds the opponent and carries the game's messages between the two devices. We run no server for it and receive none of it. During a duel the other player's device is sent your Game Center nickname, your league and rating, your duel record (wins and losses), how many worlds you have cleared and heroes you have collected, your best score, your hero deck and your scores in that duel. There is no chat.
If you and another player agree to be friends in the game, each device keeps the other player's nickname, their Game Center player identifier for this game, the statistics above as last seen, and the results of your duels against each other. This list stays on your device; removing a friend, or deleting the game, deletes it.
Online profile
Versions of the game with online features create an online profile for you on our server the first time the game starts. It is a random identifier: there is no sign-in, and we do not ask for your name, e-mail address or a password. The server is hosted by Supabase in the European Union (Stockholm). It holds:
- the username you choose, if you choose one;
- your game statistics: league rating, duel record, worlds cleared, heroes collected, best score and duel deck;
- your Game Center player identifier for this game, so that friends you made in a duel can be matched with their profile;
- your friends list, friend requests, duel invitations and the players you blocked;
- a copy of your game progress (the cloud save), so that you can take it to another device with a transfer code;
- which gift codes you have used, and reports you sent us about other players.
Other players can see your username and your game statistics, and can find you by your username. Usernames are checked against a list of names that are not allowed, and you can report or block a player from their profile. You can delete your whole online profile at any time in the game under Settings > Online profile > Delete online profile: everything listed above is removed from our server at once, and the game stops using the server until you switch the profile on again. Supabase's privacy policy: supabase.com/privacy. Versions of the game without online features send nothing to this server.
Reminders
If you say yes when the game asks, it sets reminders ("your free chest is ready") as local notifications on your device. They are created by the game on your device itself; nothing is sent to us or to a notification service. You can switch them off in the game's Settings or in your device's Settings.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not ask for or store your name, e-mail address, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location.
- We do not create an advertising profile of you.
Children
The game does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the game, contact us and we will help remove it.
Your choices
Deleting the game removes the progress stored on your device. To ask what a service named above holds about your purchases, or to have it deleted, write to us at the address below with the device you play on, and we will pass the request on.
Changes
If the game starts handling information differently, this page is updated first and the date at the top changes.
